Max Hospital Thane
Thane, Mumbai
This project is conceived as a high-density urban healthcare facility, accommodating nearly 800 beds within approximately 5,50,000 sq ft of built space. The planning achieves exceptional space efficiency while maintaining full clinical functionality, setting a benchmark for compact and economically viable hospital design.
A key planning strategy is the consolidation of all vertical circulation, services, and life-safety systems into a centralized core. This approach frees up the building perimeter for clinical areas, allowing patient rooms and key departments to benefit from natural light and clear external views. It also improves operational clarity, reduces travel distances, and enables flexible departmental layouts.
The façade is designed as a performance-driven system, responding to climate while enhancing the overall experience of the building. Vertical articulation helps control heat gain and optimize daylight, creating a more comfortable internal environment for patients and staff. At the same time, the restrained architectural language gives the building a strong and dignified presence within the urban context.
The project demonstrates how efficiency, planning precision, and environmental responsiveness can come together to deliver a high-capacity healthcare facility without compromising on quality or experience.
